November 11, 2013

Update. Yes, an update from us!

Holy cow, where did 2013 go?!?!  I can't believe November is almost half way over.  Let's see, here's a quick update on my sweet family:

John- Still working at the mine.  He's on a special project, so he works straight days, 4 10's M-Th.  He has the perfect schedule-5 to 3 in the summer, and 6-4 in the winter.  Seriously, I don't know how his job could be any more perfect for him.  He is hunting today, so I'm sure the deer are shaking in their boots ;)  He's going to prepare taxes this year, so he's been studying up on tax code.  I'm excited for him to get back into the tax world.  I think it's safe to say that taxes have a big piece of his heart ;)

Jolyn- Still at the lab.  I switched crews, and am now 2nd in charge on my crew.  I'm still trying to find that perfect work-life balance.  Sometimes my family takes the front seat...sometimes my job does.  It just depends on the month.  I'm taking a couple of online classes at the local junior college.  I keep debating whether I want to go back to school or not.  I really like my job.  Aside from having to work holidays, I am really glad I am on my new crew.

Collin- playing the clarinet in band this year.  He's really getting good at it.  He's working hard in scouts.  It's fun to watch him learn new things.  He's in 6th grade this year, and has several of my old teachers from when I went to our local town's schools.  He seems to have a good group of friends, and spends every spare minute playing minecraft.  He's doing well in school.  I think he's discovered girls because he is now showering regularly, wearing deoderant, and putting gel in his hair without my constant nagging.  That goodness for cute girls!  Ha!

Cameron- playing the trumpet in band.  He can make some pretty sweet noises!  hahaha!  He also has several of my old teachers.  I'm so happy with his classes this year.  Last year, he had some difficult teachers...the main one's name rhymes with Mrs. Glaspie.  He's doing so much better this year, and I am so glad he doesn't have to deal with that one teacher any more ;) At parent teacher conference, his teachers mentioned that they want to test him for gifted and talented.  I'm excited to see how that goes!

Caitlyn LOVES her teacher this year!  When I went to her parent-teacher conference, her teacher told me she is a good student, and is quiet.  I must have had a funny look on my face because she quickly corrected herself, and said Caitlyn is quiet when she asks the class to be quiet. lol  That's more like it!  She has Mrs. Demuth, and I was SO glad she has her!  She has a really good group of friends, and is growing up way too fast.

Caleigh is in Transitional Kindergarten at her school.  She goes to class from 8-12 every day (M-F).  The bus picks her up about 7:20, and brings her home at about 12:30.  She is the only girl in her class, but she still has fun.  Someone has to keep all those boys in line!!  The other day I was getting her ready for school, and she disappeared for a little bit.  When she back into the front room, I noticed that she had mascara on!  What the heck?  She's 5!  And she didn't even smear it!  It took me until I was at least 25 to be able to put mascara on without smearing it...She's such a hoot!

I guess that's it for now!  Hopefully it won't be another 10 months until I update!
